New Moon Impulse Worthwhile

What is ‘worth’?
This is the central question posed over the next 29 day Lunar Cycle.
It corresponds with the vibration of the zodiacal constellation Virgo.

In the sky, Virgo stands in full recognition of harvest.
We see a woman, who, depending on the viewer’s perspective,
holds either a sheath of wheat or a fresh stalk of corn. But Virgo's harvest is not just the timely September work of farmer and gardener. The Virgo sky woman represents purity, and her harvest, the worth of both an inner and outer crop.

The global backdrop for the September New Moon is one of angst and distrust. Since the collapse of money markets, we have heard much, experienced much, and are forced to consider our self-worth in terms of job, home, health care, and retirement funds. The list represents material concerns where we can assign a definitive monetary worth.

Virgo has much to say on this topic. The sky woman representing ‘purity’ of harvest is asking us to assess our motivation and actions regarding how we harvest our fears. She tells us if our motives are altruistic rather than self-serving, then our self-worth is brightened, akin to the stellar harvest.

We receive in kind.

This is one kind of Virgo measure of ‘worth’ and one kind of harvest return.

Virgo, through her ruling planets, Mercury and (my choice) Chiron, energize another kind of ‘worth’. The sky lady stands between Leo the lion and the scales of Libra. Our harvest is promised healthy seeds for Spring planting if we are able to balance (Libra) loving-kindness (Leo) with wisdom (Chiron)- mind (Mercury).

Concerning the return for our actions, or karma, a wise man once said that we should "work hard, as if our hair were on fire". If we employ the fiery energy of Autumn's red-orange flame, we have the opportunity of knowing for ourselves the experience of worth beyond our self-interest, offering a bounty that is immeasurable.

New Moon, Saturn, Sun, Mercury in opposition to Uranus, issues an important alert. Oppositions offer awareness and perspective, both necessary for worthwhile actualization. Be in readiness to recognize all situations as opportunities, be they large, small, pleasant or unpleasant. Uranus tells us that all situations are moments created to open the way, offering us passage to transpersonal experience that ennobles individual and planetary life.

Timing

Hickety Dickety Dock... (by W.W. Denslow)

Time becomes an issue as Old Father Time - Saturn - is being pushed and prodded by Impatient Mars. Mars in Gemini wants to multi-task but Saturn keeps pulling ‘rank’ and holding him to one thing at a time.

Some ticks of the clock find Mars slipping by the old man as he takes an afternoon snooze.

The Mars-Saturn energies will continue to make timing unpredictable through August 10th when they

align in an exact 90 degree Square.

From now until then we must be time-wise!

Check the daybook or calendar every morning, noon, and night.

Pay attention to the concept of schedules.

Remember there are lots of folks on the planet and breathe when you find yourself in what feels like absurdly long lines.

If anyone pushes or shoves your sensibilities, don’t go red-faced and shove back!

breathe, breathe, breathe.

There is a window tomorrow when Mars and Saturn go off center stage for just awhile and we are offered

the swift and deep flight of Cygnus.

(oops…I’m getting ahead of myself!)

Tree of Life & Spirit Water

A beautiful sunshine day at the Faerywood.
When the monks and friends arrived, there was no hesitation to bypass the house and settle them in the shade of the wood. It was a hot summer day, but water quenched thirst and the
community of trees offered cooling shade as well as powerful mojo.

A year after this event, just beyond the wood, additional new homes were built in a small area.
The retention pond in that area was filled in so one last house could be squeezed onto the deficit of land.
The Faerywood suffered from that time forward.

Rains and worse storms now overflowed its creek and tree roots began to lose hold. I haven’t been back to the physical wood during any of the Wilmington trips this or last year
for fear the sense of desperation I experienced with the over-construction & fate of the special wood
might be a reality.

The dwarf planet, Makemake, pron. “maki-maki", travels Virgo.

By way of correspondence of Above and Below (Astrology), this tells us something about trees, water, and the creatures that live within their care.

Makemake is the creator of humanity and the god of fertility in the mythology of the South Pacific island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). He was the chief
god of the Tangata manu bird-man cult and was worshipped in the form of sea birds, which were his incarnation. His material symbol, a man with a bird's head, can be found carved in petroglyphs on the island.

We do not see him but the god-seabird sits at the above table. He manifests through the water and the sunlit wood, even within the retention pond that is now a house sitting on a small piece of artificial land. All things of Virgo find their vibration in Earth.

If we listen we can hear him.

Each of us has experience with 'place'.

Time to listen.
