cattails

first was aliester whose worthy tail balanced magic 22 years. son of chesapeake barn cat and a traveler, his first feat was to leap on cue from a deep straw basket as player of a nursery rhyme troupe.
brother of puddleby-on-the-marsh.
rabbit fellow.
border-keeper.
childe guardian.
cartomancer.
knower of the cosmos.
with blind eye and little strength in old man legs, mentor of little kitty.

little kitty lost his tail to karma.
unknown parentage, he orphaned at a monastery with meditator laps as bed.
he found family amongst the fayriewood whose keeper was soon to transfer magic.
jealous pretenders to the keeper tested him and lost.
alas little kitty of auspicious beginnings and great valour, ignored the virtues of mindfulness.
fayrie led him home on moonless nights. wild cries of protest loosed him for another chance.
5 years of broken promise left him minus half a tail and hearing in both ears. it was the deafness that brought the fayrie godmother to a flooded field of leaves and fallen branches. it was she who carried him away.

fannie arrived at fayriewood knowing nothing of her beginning. she visits earth's memory of aliester-the-great and hears fayrie tell of little kitty's new wings. she is moment of light, hint of darkness.
sister of jack-the-tail-chaser.
